Make your own luck: New Century
The scale of history appears to have finally been tipped. We are cascading towards an inevitable cultural conflict in the West. Make the best of it.
With the publication of this video, I finally feel confident to make the call. The scale of history has been tipped. There is an inherent momentum in history and the momentum of the United States has finally been built towards inevitability. From 2014 to 2022, there was a perpetual question about if things would change. If things even could change.
Those questions are no longer being asked. Now, it seems, change is properly inevitable. For better or worse, we’re no longer bounded by neoliberalism. Whether that leads to balkanization or empire is up to us. I’m comfortable with both. It seems that the conflict between the Left and the Right is now going to eventually take on a functional form in the United States.
A murder in Rural North Dakota last month helps cement my position on this. It is no longer a question of “if” but rather “when”.
Some think that civil conflict may erupt during the primary elections, or it may erupt during the next presidential election. It might be something unrelated. It might not be direct violence at all. Regardless, as of summer 2022 we’re finally swinging back to the right. The Overton window has swung as far left as it’s going to, now it’s about building the world we want to see when the dust settles in another decade or so.
So let’s discuss how to do that.
SHOW UP
My father once gave me some advice that I’ve never forgotten: “If you want to change the world, start by showing up.” This is absolutely critical, and one of the reasons why Libertarians will never succeed in pushing their ideas: they want to be left alone, so they don’t show up.
The United States is on the precipice of conflict, however the coming century will see that conflict resolved, and present us opportunities to build something new. This brilliant analyst discusses a possible post-culture-war America. This is the future that’s up for grabs to whichever faction takes the initiative.
You, you reading this, can meaningfully effect that future by showing up for it. Show up to meetings, show up to local political events. Show up to the local old mans bar where a bunch of old men are looking for some one to pass forward their legacy. Real power comes from connections made with other people, and those connections require time and maintenance. Put in the time.
I’m aware of the inconvenience in doing so, especially in the modern era where survival is difficult and where it seems like you’re getting nothing done. But you have to show up if you want the next century to be ours.
Build: industries, platforms, brands, history
Industry and business are going to change a great deal in the coming decades. We’re going to be in a position where those who take the initiative will seize major advances. Some random youtube analysts are more respected and better paid than PhD historians. Make connections with local venture capitalists (remember those old-man-bars?). Start working for them, volunteer if you have to.
If we can take advantage of this coming crisis-decade, then we’ll be positioned to command the economy for several generations going forward. Just as the boomers have effectively imposed their will upon multiple future generations. Younger Millennials, and Zoomers have the opportunity now to rebuild a civilization that was pilfered by boomers and ungrounded by progressives.
Make Your Own Luck
A lot of people just “get lucky.” A sentiment I fully understand. However some people seem to be consistently lucky, while others aren’t. As one of those consistently lucky people, it’s due to mindset and a lack of risk aversion. Generally “luck” in life takes one of two forms:
The Right Connections
The Right Opportunities
Being “lucky” requires not only that you been in the right place at the right time. It also requires that one be willing to radically alter their own life to take advantage of new opportunities. Work to know useful people, find the right bar sit down there for an hour every day for the next six months to a year. Make friends with the guys there, meet them, learn from them. Then when one offers you a job or opportunity, seize it.
Humans have a natural predisposition for consistency and risk aversion. Unfortunately that gets in the way in modern society. Create as many opportunities to be “in the right place at the right time” as possible. Importantly; be willing to make a move on those opportunities when they present themselves. We’re talking “give me a few days to sell my car and I’ll buy that truck of yours” or “I’ve got time tomorrow to help out, where do you want to meet?” The difference between those who show up, and those who don’t, is that you never hear about the latter.
Maximize the number of (potentially useful) people whom you know. Develop a relatively unique set of skills (construction, coding, chemistry, mechanic, 3D modeling, etc). Then when one of those guys you know says “hey, I’m thinking about starting a thing,” make the time to give it a shot.
Those with wealth find this easier than those without. Wealth creates leisure time which can be used to perform all of the above. Yet with the zoomer generation being hyper-atomized, and the millennials hardly any better, those who build connections are going to be massively preferentially selected in higher paying industry.
I have never once in my life gotten a job by “applying online” as they say. The only types of employment I’ve ever gotten are because I knew some one who knew some one who needed some one like me to work. Nepotism is how the world works. Many of our parents did us a tremendous disservice by attempting to pretend that wasn’t true.
When you do succeed, and establish yourself somewhere, remember. You now have the capacity to be the guy who has a friend that can do the job. You have the power to share the wealth, so to speak. You also have a political impetus. The radical Left didn’t get into power by accident, they hired their own. (((Banking leaders))) hire guys like (((Epstein))) for a reason. We can build our own networks. All the HR managers in the world can’t keep the boss from hiring his buddy. We seize control by: showing up and making friends, then getting ourselves into useful positions, then getting more of /ourguys/ into useful positions.
A slow march doesn’t have the glory of a hot war or a riot. I well understand that fact. Yet that’s how it’s done. That’s how communists, and other groups seized power across the West, that’s how we can take it back. With the coming cultural conflict in the United States and across the West there will be numerous opportunities. Opportunities for us as individuals, opportunities for our movement as a whole. If we don’t seize them, some one else will. Make it so that you’ll be informed when such an opportunity arises, and be willing to upend your life to seize it.
You make your own luck; let’s have our guys be the luckiest. Imagine what we could do; sky is the limit.
